Air Spiralo® is one of Europe's fastest growing manufacturers of ventilation ducts and fittings . In order to improve capacity and flexibility, the company recently invested in a new, complete press line from AP&T.
Air Spiralo®, which has its headquarters in Holland, has set clear goals for the future. The company is aiming to become one of the three largest manufacturers of ventilation ducts and fittings in Europe. An equally clear strategy is needed, of course, to achieve that position.
"You need employees who have the right expertise, you need the appropriate product quality, and you must have presence in the right markets. Having the capability to be flexible is also crucial, as is having production capacity that satisfies both current and future needs," says Ruurd Schut, Commercial Director at Air Spiralo®.
Complete press line from AP&T
One step in development has involved installing a complete press line from AP&T in its production facility in Lehmo in eastern Finland. The facility forms the hub for Air Spiralo®'s production of press manufactured parts, and the products produced there are marketed not only in Finland, but in all of the company's markets. It is for this reason that capacity is so important. Air Spiralo®'s growth in Europe immediately impacts operations at the factory in Lehmo. This means that demands on the equipment's reliability and flexibility are tough.
"AP&T offered a very good total solution, including machinery and support. They have good references and a high degree of technical expertise. The short distance to Finland is also an advantage," says Ruurd Schut.
Previous contact
AP&T has also supplied equipment to the production facility in Lehmo previously. At the time, the factory was part of Aillos, a Finnish company, which was acquired by Air Spiralo® in 2008.
"There have been a few business dealings over the years, but our contact intensified in 2006. That is when we received a request in conjunction with the company's decision to modernize its production equipment," says Lennart Johansson, who was responsible for the sales on behalf of AP&T.
It started with one tool, then two additional ones before the decision was made to acquire a completely new press line in 2010. The equipment that is currently being installed in Lehmo consists of coil feeding, shears, press, automation and tools; it will vastly improve production speed.
"We have done our best to ensure that our solution corresponds to Air Spiralo®'s requirements for efficiency and flexibility. And as One Responsible Partner ®, we assume complete responsibility for service and support," says Lennart Johansson.
"AP&T has really made an effort to satisfy our wishes, which we appreciate enormously. And if our plans for continued growth go according to plan, we will need to increase our capacity further in the future," says Ruurd Schut.
