Automotive

Cars need to get lighter, stronger, and more sustainable – often all at the same time. AP&T works with OEMs and tier suppliers to develop and deliver the production solutions that make this possible: press hardening, aluminum forming, and fully integrated press lines. From early concept to volume production, we take complete responsibility as your one single partner.

The challenge

Lighter, stronger, faster – all at once

Electrification, stricter emissions rules, and evolving crash safety standards are changing vehicle design quickly. For manufacturers and their suppliers, this means producing car body structures that are lighter, stronger, and more complex than before – while keeping costs down, reducing environmental footprint, and maintaining high production volumes.

Weight reduction without compromising safety

Every kilogram counts – for EV range, fuel economy, and CO₂ targets. But lighter structures must not come at the cost of occupant protection. Manufacturers need forming methods that deliver high-strength components at low weight, using advanced steels, aluminum, and new material combinations that still meet the toughest crash requirements.

Energy-efficient manufacturing

The pressure to reduce the environmental footprint of production itself is growing. OEMs and suppliers need to cut energy consumption, reduce material waste, and increase the share of recycled content in their forming processes. This puts new demands on the equipment, as well as on the partner who delivers it.

Complex parts at high volume

Vehicles increasingly use larger, integrated structural components, replacing several stamped parts with a single press-hardened element. That means production lines need to handle bigger blanks, tighter tolerances, and new materials, without losing the speed and consistency that high-volume manufacturing requires.

Our solution

Proven technology and a partner who stays for the long run

AP&T has been a pioneer in press hardening since 2001, with over 150 complete production lines installed for automotive manufacturers worldwide. That experience, together with ongoing development in forming solutions for aluminum, composites, and ultra-high-strength steels, allows us to support customers from early development through to high-volume production. You work with one project team from needs analysis to installation, start-up, and long-term service. We call it One Responsible Partner.

Press hardening for large and complex, integrated components

AP&T's press hardening lines are built for large and complex blanks, with servo presses, compact furnace systems, and automated material handling configured for high material utilization and consistent quality, even when working with ultra-high-strength steels and materials with high recycled content.

Production designed for lower environmental impact

Our solutions are designed with the environmental footprint in mind: energy-recovering servo presses, space-efficient furnace layouts, and forming strategies that reduce the number of tools and assembly steps needed per finished component.

One partner, full responsibility

We gather presses, furnaces, automation, tooling, control systems, and aftermarket services under one roof. One project group follows the whole process, from feasibility studies and line simulations to installation, training, and production optimization.
